Pet Care Agreement

Halls Head Dog Services – Pet Care Agreement

Thank you for choosing Halls Head Dog Services. This agreement outlines the terms of care to ensure a safe, calm, and well-managed environment for all dogs. By confirming a booking, you agree to the following:

Services Provided

Halls Head Dog Services provides home-based dog minding, doggy day care, and optional add-on services including walks, food, transport, and structured dog training.

Dogs are cared for in a structured home environment with supervision, access to a secure backyard, and enrichment suited to their individual needs.

Where selected, structured dog training is delivered during your dog’s stay, without the owner present unless otherwise agreed. Training may include foundational skills or more advanced behaviour work depending on your dog’s needs, temperament, history, and suitability. Training is conducted through targeted sessions and may be reinforced throughout the day.

An owner handover session may also be selected to provide guidance on maintaining trained behaviours and is strongly recommended for longer lasting results.

All services, durations, and add-ons must be confirmed at the time of booking. Overnight stays are charged in 24-hour blocks, and day care in 12-hour blocks unless otherwise agreed.

Pricing & Promotions

Halls Head Dog Services reserves the right to update pricing at any time. Updated pricing will apply to all new bookings and will be communicated prior to confirmation.

Pricing is confirmed at the time of booking and may vary between bookings.

From time to time, promotional offers or discount codes may be provided. These:

  • Are valid only for the specified period and conditions

  • Cannot be applied retrospectively to existing or past bookings

  • Are not transferable or redeemable for cash

Only one promotion or discount may be applied per booking unless otherwise stated.

Halls Head Dog Services reserves the right to withdraw or modify promotions at any time without notice.

Payment

Payment is required in accordance with your booking or invoice.

A final invoice will be issued prior to the commencement of services, including any confirmed add-ons such as transport (pick-up/drop-off), walks, and dog training. This invoice must be paid in full to secure your booking.

Any additional charges incurred during or after the service, including late fees, extended care, or unplanned add-ons, will be invoiced separately and must be paid before or at collection.

All outstanding fees must be paid in full prior to the release of your dog.

Halls Head Dog Services reserves the right to refuse future services where invoices remain unpaid.

Cancellations & Refunds

Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours prior to the booking start time to receive a full refund.

Cancellations within 48 hours are non-refundable due to limited availability and reserved capacity.

No-shows or same-day cancellations will be charged in full.

For public holidays and peak periods (including school holidays):

  • 7 days notice is required for a refund

  • Cancellations within this 7 day period are non-refundable

Where dog training has been booked as part of the service, this time is reserved in advance and is non-refundable if cancelled within the applicable cancellation period.

If your dog is collected earlier than booked, the remaining time is non-refundable.

Refunds or credits may be considered in exceptional circumstances at our discretion. Please allow up to 10 working days for processing.

Dog Health & Vaccinations

You confirm that your dog:

  • Is in good health and free from contagious illness

  • Is up to date with vaccinations, flea, and tick treatments

  • Is suitable for a home environment (unless otherwise agreed)

You must disclose any medical conditions, injuries, or recent illnesses prior to the stay, including any changes since previous bookings.

Behaviour & Suitability

You agree to provide accurate and complete information about your dog’s behaviour, including:

  • Reactivity to dogs, people, food, or toys

  • Anxiety, separation issues, or escape tendencies

  • Any history of aggression or biting

Where training services are requested, you acknowledge that accurate behavioural history is essential to safe handling and effective training.

Halls Head Dog Services reserves the right to refuse or end a booking if a dog is deemed unsafe, overly stressed, or unsuitable for the environment.

If a booking is ended early due to behaviour or welfare concerns, no refund will be provided and the owner must arrange immediate collection.

New Clients

Halls Head Dog Services may require a consultation, trial, or assessment prior to accepting extended or overnight bookings.

Where dog training is requested, an initial discussion or assessment may also be required to determine suitability.

Daily Care & Environment

Dogs are supervised and cared for as part of a home environment:

  • Access to a large, secure backyard is included for play and enrichment

  • Walks are not included and are available as an optional add-on

  • Dogs are managed based on temperament and compatibility

Where dog training is selected, structured handling, reinforcement, and management strategies may be used to support learning and safety.

You acknowledge that dogs may interact with other dogs and, while carefully managed, there is a risk of minor injury, illness, or behavioural incidents.

While every effort is made to maintain routine and safety, dogs may be exposed to normal household activities and interactions.

Dog Training

Where structured dog training is selected as part of your booking, the following terms apply:

  • Training is conducted during your dog’s stay and, unless otherwise agreed, without the owner present

  • Training is tailored to the individual dog and may include foundational skills, behaviour shaping, engagement, calm behaviour, loose lead walking, obedience work, or more advanced behavioural training

  • Training may involve the use of appropriate training tools and handling methods based on the dog’s needs and safety requirements

  • Training is delivered through targeted sessions and may be reinforced throughout the day

You acknowledge that:

  • Progress will vary depending on the dog’s age, temperament, history, environment, and prior training

  • No guarantee is made regarding specific behavioural outcomes or results

  • Ongoing results depend heavily on owner consistency following the service

An owner handover session is strongly recommended to ensure correct handling and long-term success.

Where an owner handover is not selected, Halls Head Dog Services is not responsible for any regression, inconsistency, or deterioration in behaviour once the dog returns home.

Food & Supplies

Owners must provide:

  • Food for the duration of the stay

  • Any medications with clear instructions

If food is not provided, Halls Head Dog Services may supply food at an additional cost of $20 per dog per day. Special dietary requirements must be agreed to in advance.

Emergency Care

In the event of illness or injury, all reasonable efforts will be made to contact you immediately.

You authorise Halls Head Dog Services to:

  • Seek veterinary care on your behalf

  • Transport your dog to a veterinary clinic, including use of a personal vehicle

  • Act in your dog’s best interests where immediate decisions are required

You agree to nominate a preferred veterinary clinic. If unavailable, a local provider may be used.

All veterinary and associated costs are the responsibility of the owner and must be reimbursed in full.

Transport & Dog Taxi

Where transport services (pick-up and/or drop-off) are provided, you authorise Halls Head Dog Services to transport your dog safely.

While all reasonable care is taken, you acknowledge that transport carries inherent risks.

Halls Head Dog Services is not liable for illness, injury, loss, or incidents during transport except in cases of proven gross negligence.

You agree to indemnify Halls Head Dog Services against any claims arising from your dog’s behaviour during transport.

Access & Collection

Dogs must be dropped off and collected at the agreed times.

A 15-minute grace period applies. After this time, late pick-ups will incur a charge equivalent to an additional 12-hour care block ($50).

Delays due to genuine emergencies may be considered at our discretion.

Uncollected Dogs

If a dog is not collected at the agreed collection time:

  • A 15-minute grace period applies

  • After 15 minutes, a 12-hour day care charge will apply

If the dog is not collected within 12 hours:

  • The booking becomes an extended care period

  • Charges transition to $150 per 24 hours (or part thereof)

Extended care charges will continue up to a maximum of 3 days.

If uncollected after 3 days, Halls Head Dog Services may arrange transfer to a council facility or authorised shelter.

All costs associated with extended care, transport, and surrender remain the responsibility of the owner.

Liability

All reasonable care will be taken to ensure your dog’s safety and wellbeing. However, you acknowledge that dogs in a home environment and training environment carry inherent risks.

Halls Head Dog Services is not liable for illness, injury, loss, death, or unsuccessful training outcomes except in cases of proven gross negligence or intentional misconduct.

You accept full responsibility for:

  • Any damage caused by your dog to property, equipment, or the home environment

  • Any injury or loss caused to people, animals, or property

You agree to indemnify Halls Head Dog Services against any related claims.

Force Majeure

Halls Head Dog Services is not liable for failure to provide services due to events outside reasonable control, including illness, emergencies, or environmental conditions.

Photos & Updates

Unless requested otherwise, you consent to photos and videos of your dog being taken and shared with you or used for marketing and social media.

Where training is provided, photos or videos may also be used to demonstrate progress or provide updates.

You may withdraw consent in writing at any time.

Entire Agreement

This agreement forms the entire understanding between both parties. Halls Head Dog Services reserves the right to update these terms at any time. The latest version will apply to all future bookings.
